We are thrilled to share this recent article from K-12 Dive highlighting the incredible work being done at the Sussex Consortium in Lewes, Delaware where over 100 classrooms have participated in Pyramid Classroom Certification! The Sussex Consortium is a public school in the Cape Henlopen School District in coastal Delaware. It serves students with intensive needs, many of whom have an autism diagnosis and complex communication needs.
Principal Vivian Bush said that 10 years ago, Sussex Consortium struggled with fine-tuning its professional development strategies around instruction and classroom management. That was until the school consulted with Andy Bondy, who developed the Pyramid Approach to Education®. What the school needed was year-round teacher supports, on-the-job training, and the tools to make a meaningful difference in their students’ skills and lives.
Read the article to learn about the lasting impact the Pyramid Certified Classroom program has had on the ongoing professional development of the Sussex Consortium staff and the meaningful outcomes this framework has created for their students.
